MakingNYC Home

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born in Queens, raised in Westchester, avid traveler to Italy, and calling the Upper East Side home, I'm a fluent New Yorker. I feel a strong tie to the concept of " HOME".  I believe that everyone should have an environment they're proud of, but most importantly a space to call their own. I am also sensitive to the financial implications of owning and making that next big decision. My cultural upbringing has instilled this financially conservative reasoning within me, and furthermore I’ve decided to pursue further education in Real Estate Development at Fordham University. My Sunday morning kick-off includes stopping into 2-3 open houses in a particular neighborhood to understand value and offering in the NYC Residential market these days. I enjoy browsing, and analyzing what they're selling these days!

My career in 2014 with  Halstead Property Group. I obtained my license from NYU's Shack School of Real Estate and started in a sales gallery for 540 West 49th Street, a new condo development in Hells Kitchen. During this time announcement and planning for Hudson Yards , the luxury hot spot of the West Side worked with our efforts to market and pre-sell condos at higher price points then the neighborhood had ever experienced. I read through all 321 pages of the building's offering plan, for fun, and formed my first opinion of how demand is created for new development inventory in NYC.

Between working with Halstead and digging deeper into my real estate interest, I had the opportunity to work and support 12 superstark sales team members for NBC's local television station NBC 4 NY. Exercising my creative genius, and marketing voice I was engulfed in the world of custom created content, media, and communications to the masses vis a vis the TV. Naturally my knack for communicating flourished but I did not believe in the expensive product I was selling. Sixty second commercials backed by badly skewed data from television set top boxes, and lack of budget to keep my position and excel moved me right back to Real Estate. In 2015 I made a sharp career change from Ad Sales with NBC 4 NY and digital/social media marketing for the City of NY to The Corcoran Group.

I was earning to value and sell something, tangible, real, and needed by others. Everyone needs a place to live, finding the right one is a process. I worked under a senior broker at The Corcoran Group taking note of his negative energy yet profound success and decided that I personally was meant to be independent and help others. My switch to TOWN Residential, a privately held brokerage, reinforced my inclination of, " It really doesn't matter what brokerage name is hanging over your head". What everyone should look for in an agent is tenacity, undivided attention, and experience. Coming from the world of marketing, the consumer must understand that major brands and brokerages spend millions on advertising to acquire your attention and future business. My individual work ethic and eagerness to educate my clients has been what I look to convey. In 2018 I created a logo for #MakingNYCHome and felt as silly as a pineapple might be, it’s the symbol of “hospitality” and that which makes my clients, “Feel at Home.”

Often times, people make the mistake of working with a "busy" broker with 17 high profile listings. Those agents are often over worked, cranky, and sloppy in representing your property. I know it, because I worked for one! Be weary of fully interviewing and vetting these brokers, they will give your listing and work to an assistant to handle. Sometimes this works, sometimes it puts your property at risk for price deceases and buyers walk away. I decided to devote my time to working with clients that only want to work with me! I don't cold call or knock on doors. Many of my past clients and listings come from referrals and introductions. I like saying I am a LIFE-Stylist, because no matter what side of the transaction I am on, it's someone's life that is being affected. Where you can and choose to live is a big decision, I hope you too will consider me in your next transaction.

It's been exactly one year since I've been sending out monthly newsletters to my friends, colleagues, past clients, and curious clients. I decided to take the time to curate a monthly email to everyone so that I could sincerely share my experience in working the Real Estate market with all. It comes to no surprise that Real Estate Agents sometimes have a bad reputation. Neurotic, frantically sending emails at 2am, pushing you to make offers on a property, and sometimes even making your whole buying experience soaking with negativity. My approach is 100% different, and I hope my tone is felt in my writing to you. I look to share, consult, and ultimately HELP my clients find their next home. In a world where money is glorified, things just keep getting more expensive by the minute, and home ownership is a very unique decision for most, my job and purpose as your agent is to help you make the right decision.  To learn more about analyzing your current property, or buying your next one with me, feel free to email me at talessandro@townresidential.com.
