Sanborn maps are detailed maps of U.S. cities and towns in the 19th and 20th centuries. Originally published by The Sanborn Map Company, the maps were created to allow fire insurance companies to assess their total liability in urbanized areas of the United States. [1] The colors on this map all outline single, multi-family, and commercial properties in what use to be Dutch Kills or Hunters Point, (Astoria/Long Island City). When the home was built
How the home was built, were there any evident extensions, was it wood frame, block frame etc.
What industries existed. *Hint LIC’s water front was once home to numerous oil plants and factories, which is why the soil on Center Blvd had been contaminated for years and remediation had to take place before the rental buildings ( TF Cornerstone) had been built.
